DESCRIPTION
- Abstract
- There are six dated letters, four with envelopes, one post card and two business cards in this box. Gallet's letters to Chabot continue to be friendly, speak of making a trip to Germany together, and of preparing an article together for the German art magazine, Du, on O'Keeffe, but the romantic relationship is over. No collaboration on an article occurs, and she makes the trip to Germany without Chabot. There are two letters and a post card, March 31 – April 22, 1965 from Germany. The last dated letter, Feb. 10, 1967 reflects Gallet's contentment with her husband and family life and continued warm feelings for Chabot. There are five undated letters and a lipstick blot, a kiss, on the back of a blank sheet of Gallet's letterhead stationary. It was found without context in the Gallet-to-Chabot correspondence. There are two letters from Chabot to R. Gallet in this box: Oct. 25, 1971 and April 17, 1971. The first letter is addressed to Roger and his three children and is written on the occasion of C. Gallet's death. The second letter speaks of a request from Marian Lee, seeking the photographs Gallet took of O'Keeffe and her paintings [see, MCA – General Correspondence – "Marian Lee"] and of Chabot's desire to find the prints. There is no response from R. Gallet in the archive. There is a card, a letter with its envelope, July 8 and July 22, 1965, and a wedding invitation with its envelope, July 20, 1973, from Ives Gallet to Maria Chabot. There is a letter, July 25, 1965, from Chabot to I. Gallet.
